Oh dear, I am in trouble!
You see, I have a sister who is very athletic. In fact, I can't even count the many swim meets that I have attended in support of her. Of course, anyone that has ever gone to a swim meet understands just how long the day is with your swimmer only competing for a matter of minutes. Today, she found a new love and ambition though...triathlons! She made me wake up at 4:30 in the morning so that we could arrive before the sun at the Rose Bowl! Do you have any idea just how freezing cold it is at that place, at that hour?! My toes were very nearly frostbitten! Seriously, this is Southern California! It's not supposed to be like that! Then, as if that isn't enough...the race didn't even begin until 8:30! So, there I am with frostbite threatening to destroy my need for pedicures, dizzying black circles spinning under my now blood-shot eyes, I'm completely blind because the sun obviously didn't get the memo, and the race doesn't even begin until 8:30! (Probably because the sun was late for the appointment!)
Okay, so it is only fair to note that my sweet sister did apologize for the early hour. Even so, you can understand how truly deteriorating those circumstances can be.
Happily, she did exceptionally well in the race! (Confidentially, I really didn't think that she would make it to the finish line!) Needless to say, she surprised us all when she took first in her age division! None of us, not even she, expected any placements let alone the claim of first! Naturally this called for a celebration, which meant only one thing...In N' Out! I mean the works...two hamburgers, a chocolate shake, and fries for dipping in the shake!
But then...and here comes the scary part...as we are sitting there drowning our food with spread, she announces, "I want to do another triathlon!"
Oh the pain, the sleeplessness, the waiting, the hoards of people...yes, I am in serious trouble!
What an awesome sister you are! You sound just like me with the things we've had to take the kids to. Luckily for me it has 99.99% of the time been Nick taking them at those unheard of (ok, I've heard of them just never seen them) hours!
